The mission of the Save Texas History Preservation and Education Program is to preserve and promote the historic documents of the General Land Office Archives. The GLO Archives were created before statehood, when John Borden, the first Land Commissioner, traveled the countryside gathering land records to define the new Texas Republic. The collection now houses more than 35 million documents &endash; including hand drawn maps, personal letters, sketches, and, one of the most revered works of Texas history, Stephen F. Austin’s Registro. Land Office documents are accessed daily for title research, genealogy and educational use.

Save Texas History membership ensures valuable GLO documents will be preserved and accessible for generations. Your contribution supports ongoing conservation efforts as well as popular Land Office educational programs for all ages.
